United Sikhs Relief Agency Distributes Aid to Hurricane Ike Victims

Monday October 6, 2008

With economy and election issues at the forefront of the media coverage, it’s easy enough to forget about the devastating effects of Hurricane Ike. After all Galveston Texas is yesterday’s news. Not so, for the United Sikhs Aid team, and homeless hurricane victims, they have been helping to serve. Volunteers have collected, and distributed, food, clothing, and other relief supplies, to 900 evacuees stranded in the Huston Red Cross shelter. People who lost everything in Galveston feel fortunate to just have their lives. Sikhs employing the principals of Seva, the Sikh ideal of selfless service, feel grateful to be in a position to offer assistance to the less fortunate in times of dire need.

You are so right here Sukhmandir; so many are getting forgotten in the panic over the state of the economy. It’s the same here in the UK. Sad state of affairs.
