The Importance of Recharging

You might wonder what is so important about reciting daily prayers. To me, it’s like filling my car with gas, or eating three meals a day. I need to recharge my Sikhi or I wither like flower in need of rain. Gurbani, the Guru's word, is so refreshing that the few minutes required for nitnem recharges me like a down pour in a drought.

I’m just finishing reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. It’s about a year she spent getting in touch with her spirituality. After four months in an ashram in India, she discovered the healing power of meditation. I have gotten away from my own practice, and you and Elizabeth are inspiring me to return to it.
