Free food is a wonderful thing. A blessing for those who give and those who receive.
Sikhs do lots of good food. Freely sharing is even better.
The iron plate looks a wok. In my dad’s younger days, he was quite skillful with a wok. He worked almost his entire life as a cook at a Chinese restaurant.
I would love to try it out !
I don’t know what that is but it looks great.
What a blessing it is to be able to give to those less fortunate.
providing free meals to the needy is a fabulous thing. Happy WW!
what a great gesture of humanity to freely share good food.
I love to try free food .
That looks wonderful – so generous!
Fabulous! Good food, for free and the blessings of helping others priceless!
That’s great to have food to share. Looks good.
Nice photo. I like the repetition of the round shapes and your choice of just showing the hands of the servers. I also agree that it is important to share with others.
That looks down right yummy Sukhmandir, I hope this effort feed many people!
The sharing of food in a wonderful thing, and the food there looks quite delicious.
Free fried food is universal. Fried food can bring people together like nothing else, in fact. Italians, for example, have zeppole. Americans have funnel cake. Sikhs have this. All I know is that I can never resist free fried food. It is one universal language that I can bite into with joy. Yum!
Yum! What’s cooking?
Barbara I’m not 100% sure because I don’t think I’ve ever had any just like these with round shape. But think they could be aloo tikaa or fried potato patty. Not sure if they are seasoned or just simple with salt. They stood there and fried up thousands.
What a wonderful thing to do and the food looks super tasty! Happy WW!
Free food is always good.
Mmmmmmm…..Food! I would love to try it.
Sat shri akal. suhkmandir ji, if that’s what I think it is it wud b called somosa in arabic. on I-40 in new mexico there is a resturant at exit 356 I think called “a taste of india” the bros and sisters make them there and with the garbonzo beans and spices WOW! anyway hope I’m can make the parade when I come back to california.
Btw I did make it california finally but didn’t have time to visit any Gurdwara but I did get to talk with a brother who is loading here in fontana at the same place. our discussion was really uplifting. I was able to actually see a pray book and hold it pretty cool. take care.
Sikhs are impartial and feed the needy or the greedy and even just the curious. In fact most Sikhs won’t take no for an answer when they offer you food unless you refuse at least three times, and then you are likely to find a plate on your lap anyway.
Khahil ji,
your enthusiasm in inspiring. Hope you get to make the parade. I know you’ll love it.
That is so generous… and delicous too I bet!
I was wrong. I thought they were gulab jamun and the sugar syrup was not quite in the photo.
I think they are potato because a woman nearby was grating boiled potatoes. (there is a picture of her in the gallery) There is also a sort of dipping sauce it seem, a bit further down the table.
The thing about the Yuba City parade, Walk a little further down and someone will be hailing you with gulab jamun and all manner of eatables.
It is so good to see people who care enough about their fellow human beings to give of their time and energy to serve.
I love the idea of people cooking together. The world would probably be a kinder place if we did more of that.
This photo reflects true generosity of spirit.
I love potatoes! I was wondering what those were until I read your comment. I used to work in a restaurant that served fried apple fritters, and they look sort of like those. Delicious! Great shot!
that looks delicious!
They look quite tasty.. Remind me of something my uncle use to make only I know it couldn’t be the same.. Wow they cooked thousands of them…
Yummmm. What’s cooking?
Looks yummy!
Mmmm, looks delicious! And they’re free!
Mine are here and here.
Yum! Happy WW!
It looks yummy! I would love to give it a try. Happy WW.

This is a great photo. I love the angle of the shot – the food looks delicious, and you get an impression of selfless giving from those that are serving.
What a blessing to receive free foods! It looks so delicious!
Where is this??? I’m on my way!!!
Gabriel, the next Parade is November 1st in Yuba City Ca, and starts at 11 am. The address is 2468 Tierra Buena, Yuba City, California, USA 90650 The food gets better every year and every one is welcome.
Hi, and thanks for stopping by my blog.
I always enjoy your photos, and I learn a lot from them, as well.
The food in this picture looks delicious. I must say that I haven’t yet met a fried food that I didn’t like.
The hot iron plate looks pretty cool too. Is gas piped directly into the receptacle underneath? It looks almost wok-like.
oh yummy…i love it..
