Who Longs For God?

Who longs to remember God?  Fourth Guru Raam Das wrote that only the rare precious  pre-ordained soul yearns to  engage the mind in simran and  inwardly contemplate the divine. He proclaimed singing in praise of the creative wondrous enlightener to be the most sublime of activities one may achieve. The mother or father who departs this earth having trained their child on such a path bequeaths them the most priceless of inheritances.

Chouraaseeh sidh budh tetees kott mun jan sabh chaaheh har jeeo tero naao ||
The Eighty four adepts, Budha, thirty-three million demi-gods and the silent sages all long,  O dear Lord, for Thy Name.

Gur prasaad ko virlaa paavai jin ko lilaatt likhiaa dhur bhaao
||
By Guru's grace those rare few obtain it upon whose foreheads is written pre-ordained destiny of devotional adoration.||1|

Jap man raamai naam har jas ootam kaam ||
O soulful mind, meditate upon God's name, singing the Lord's praise is the most exalted of activities.

Jo gaavehi suneh teraa jas suaamee ho tin kai sad balihaarai jaao
|| rehaao ||
Those who sing, and hear Your praise, O Lord Master, unto them, I am ever a sacrifice.||Pause||

saranaagat pratipaalak har suaamee jo tum daehu soee ho paao
||
I seek Your cherished sanctuary, O God, my Protector Lord and Master whatever You bestow I accept.

Deen da-i-aal kirpaa kar deejai naanak har simran kaa hai chaao

O Merciful Lord meek kindly bless me the meek one with this boon, Nanak yearns to remember the Lord in contemplative meditation. ||2||4||10|| SGGS||669
