Just like a timing belt is crucial to an engine's performance, timing can also be crucial to the engine of your spiritual life.

When your timing is off there can be repercussions and your spiritual experience can suffer. Just like with mechanics, slight adjustments to your schedule can fine tune the synchronization of your meditation to keep your spiritual life on track and running smoothly.
Guru Raam Das outlined instructions for Sikh living advising adherence to the following daily schedule:
"Gur satigur kaa jo sikh akhaa-ae so bhalkae outh har naam dhi-aa-vai||
The teachings of the True Enlightener instruct one known as a Sikh (disciple) to rise in the early morning and meditate on the Lord's Name.
Oudam kar-ae bhalkae parbhaatee isnaan karae anmrit sar naavai ||
Upon arising early in the morning, one is to bathe, and cleanse oneself in the sacred pool of immortal nectar.
