The best way to read though the entire Guru Granth Sahib is to commit to the schedule of a devotional daily reading plan. By reading paath of Gurbani every day without fail, it is possible for even a beginning reader to read the entire 1430 page (Ang) scripture of Guru Granth Sahib in under a year:
  • Non-stop devotional reading of an Akhand Paath with a group takes 48 hours to 72 hours.
  • Reading a Sadharan Paath from a single volume of scripture with a group at intervals takes just a week or two.
  • Reading an individual Sadharan or Sahej Paath alone requires 7 weeks to 51 weeks.
Choose from a variety of 10 free devotional daily reading plans to suit your reading skills and schedule. Daily reading plans are scheduled to allow for a Sunday Bhog, or completion ceremony.

The seven day schedule is based on a reading rate of 30 pages (Ang) per hour with seven reader roles per day, or 14 roles per day reading 15 Ang per hour. This type of paath may be undertaken family and friends following the death of a loved one prior to funeral services.

The Seven week Sadharn Paath daily reading plan requires 30 pages (Ang) to be read each day. This schedule is suitable for an individual reader with the proficiency to read 30 Ang per hour, 15 Ang per hour twice a day, or 10 Ang three times a day.

Alternately the schedule may be used for a Sahej Paath or Cyper Paath involving participants in more than one location reading from different sources with the pages divided amongst the group. The seven week paath is suitable for reading prior to a wedding, or other life event such as childbirth and naming ceremony.
