Prakash or parkash means light, luster, manifestation, or open to publicly reveal. In Sikhism the term prakash refers to the manifest spiritual light or jot of the Guru or Manifest Enlightener:

  • Physical manifestation of spiritual light, or jot, upon the birth of an enlightened being such as one of the ten gurus or guides to enlightenment.
  • Manifestation of light in the opening ceremony of the Sikh scripture, when the jot, or illuminating spiritual light of the Enlightener, is invoked and revealed publicly to be residing wherever Siri Guru Granth Sahib is installed.
