Cut Fabric For DIY Baby's First Prayerbook Cover

The cover of baby's first prayer book is shown in Step One. To make it you need fabric and batting. You can can use foam rubber, cotton or polyester batting to give the prayerbook cover body and help it hold its shape while still being flexible. Use heavy fabric for the outside of the cover and lightweight fabric for the inside.

• Lay out the fabric with right sides together. Pay attention to any Sikh symbols or patterns on the fabric so that you have them centered for the most pleasing arrangement
• Cut both pieces of fabric in a rectangle 6 x 12 inches.

It's nice to make the cover so when finished it is slightly larger than the pages, approximately 1/8 - 1/2 inch is fine. You can do this by any of these methods:

• Cut fabric for the cover 1/8 to 1/2 inch larger than pages.
• Cut fabric for cover and pages the same size and stitch a narrow seam for the cover and a wide seam for the pages.
• Cut fabric for the pages the same size as the finished cover and stitch together with a narrow seam.

Now you are ready to pin the fabric pieces together.
