To make a ramala altar cloth for each side:

To apply optional trim:

  • Measure the short side of each rectangle of fabric. The small pieces will be approximately 17", and the larger piece approximately 43".

  • Pin trim to one of the edges of each ramala and stitch in place.

To drape the portable altar:

  • The trimmed edge is the bottom of the ramala altar cloth.

  • Drape the side pieces so that the trimmed edge hangs down. The top edge will be tucked between the cover and outer pages of the scripture Guru Granth.

(Optional) After all projects are complete, trim and hem left over sections of fabric and contrasting material. Use one to cover heart shaped pillows, and the other to cover the prashad bowl.
