Attach Canopy Support to the Portable Altar
Use the square door casing trim to build the canopy frame. Measure the top end of the spindles or dowels. Drill out the center of the square door trim. Slip on to the spindles. Making sure the spindles are absolutely upright, measure the distance from the outer corners of the square pieces. The measurement should be equal or similar to the side rail of the platform. Cut the 2"x1/2" trim to length as measured. Remove the squares. Miter the corners and glue, screw or nail to the square pieces to form a frame which will support a canopy.
If it is not possible to miter the edges, then cut two pieces of trim for the sides of the canopy frame at approximately 24 inches. Use tape for exact measurement. Apply glue to the edge of the square piece, and nail or screw the trim in place. Cut the trim for the front and rear canopy frame so that it overlaps the side edges of the frame, approximately 36 1/2 inches. Be sure to use a tape to get an exact measurement. Apply glue and screw or nail into place. Use two screws or nails on each side of the the square. Use a nail set if necessary to tap nail so that they are embedded in the wood and fill with wood putty, or caulk, and sand lightly when dry.
Prime and paint the canopy frame.
