Meditation for Peace and Healing

Invoking the Spirit of Guru Raam Das

By , About.com Guide

Sikhs do not actively seek to convert others or expect others to follow Sikhism. Rather they encourage everyone to follow their own spiritual path. However anyone who has the desire to do so is welcome to become a Sikh.

Krishna Kaur and Hari Darshan Singh are both converts to the Sikh faith. They have a special place in their house where there is an altar set up for the Sikh scriptures. The room is set aside for daily worship and their private practice of Sikhism.

The couple holds a monthly meditation for peace in their home. They invite everyone in their circle of acquaintance. The people who join them are a very eclectic group. They may be co-workers, students, teachers, healers, or fellow Sikhs, and many bring friends or family. They come together in fellowship to focus communally on peace and healing. The meditation for peace takes place in the living and dining area of their home which is different from a Sikh worship service which takes place in a gurdwara.
