Most interesting. Washing of feet seems to be a custom across many religions. I believe Jesus was a practitioner.
Interesting post. Thanks for sharing
Fascinating photo. I must confess, I know very little about Sikhism compared to other world religions.
Interesting shot. I love coming here and learning more about Sikhism.
I had the same thought as Stan, about how foot-washing has significance in more than one religion. Then I thought about how people used to go everywhere on foot and how, after a long journey, washing one’s feet (or having them washed) could approach a religious experience even for the non-religious!
This is an interesting photo and I like the way all the shoes look on the floor as the man enters. It’s a great visual.
Well captured moment.
Makes me wonder how many different religions practice foot washings. I know that Mennonites do.
A practical practice with spiritual overtones. Since it is obvious sandals are popular from the photo, who would want to walk around with dusty feet? But, it also affords spiritual reflection as you prepare to enter.
Some kind of washing ritual does seem very common, doesn’t it?
Interesting picture. It makes you think. What a great way to cause people to stop in their tracks, and shift gears from the outside world to the spiritual world.
I truly enjoy learning more about Sikhism each week. Thanks for your detailed explanations of the Gurdwara and how to act if you visit.
