Featured: Treats No Tricks
Trick or treat? Most major candies sold in the USA are made with corn syrup manufactured from GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) corn. Some European countries have completely outlawed GMO, while in the USA, foods containing GMO are rarely labeled and won't be if Big Business get's their way. Consumers have no way of knowing whether foods contain GMO, which can be tricky, as modified genes may unstable and mutate causing untold environmental and health problems.
How can you protect yourself? Californians can vote Yes on Prop 37 to label GMO Foods and you can know your ingredients by making your own bibek treats without tricks at home.
Here are some virtual treats you may want to try.

The pictures of the child are the real treat. How adorable! But the food looks yummy, too, and I agree that we need to know more about what’s in our food.
It is scary what they put in food now.
Happy Halloween. We use to give out apples to the trick-or-treaters, but I’m afraid people make their kids throw those out for fear they might have been tampered with. Also, the kids turn up their noses when you hand them and apple.
Those treats look scrumptious! I don’t think I’d look as adorable devouring them as she does, though. ;D
I’m so glad you mentioned GMOs….on pins and needles to see if California votes Yes on Prop 37. This is a big one. This is an outstanding collection of images here — I’d try them all!
I totally agree about GMOs. So glad you are writing about it. Also love the photos and the treats.
We made the pumpkin seed recipe, but had to halve the time and at that our oven was smokey, but we LOVED them. I left the salt off because it’s off DH’s diet.
They all look so yummy. As soon as we finish all the Halloween goodies in our house I’ll have to try a few of these recipes.
They all look so good. You can tell on her face how good it is. She is precious.
I love the picture of the little girl, so sweet ! The sweets you show are certainly far more healthy, there must be a reason that so many American kids are overweight. And GMO’s what a crap !
