Nagar Kirtan translates to mean divine hymns sung while parading through town. Ragis are professional performers of kirtan, hymns of praise whose words are taken from verses written in Sikhism's sacred scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Gadee is a holiday commemorating the anniversary of the inauguration of Sikh scriptures as Guru Granth Sahib, the everlasting Guru of Sikhs.
