Definition:

A tuk is a rhyme, a line, a verse of poetry, or a lesson. In Sikhism, a tuk is a line from the poetic scripture of the Guru Granth known as Gurbani.

A tuk of Gurbani, is considered by Sikhs to be a treasure of spiritual wealth. Guru Nanak explains:
"Gur oupadaes javaahar maanak saevae sikh suo khoj lehai||1||
The Guru's Teachings are the gems and jewels; the Sikh who serves Him searches and finds them." ||1|| SGGS||1328

A tuk is often recalled by heart and recited much like a memory verse. Sikhs enjoy the exchange of an inspirational tuk. Commonly this is done as a gurbani word association.
