Definition:
A gutka is a prayer book composed of sacred verses which is small enough to be held in the hand.
A gutka can be kept close at hand, or easily transported. In Sikhism, a gutka is used for reciting prayers and considered a sacred vessel of scripture. Out of respect for the scripture within, the gutka is usually kept wrapped in a protective decorate cloth or cover and may also be secured in a pouch.Pronunciation: The vowel sound of u is short as in put. The vowel sound of a is long (double stress) as in awe.
